NaNoWriMo and Movember

Day Fourteen of NaNoWriMo and though my attempts at growing facial hair (Movember) have thankfully been a failure, the writing is more successful. Well the quantity, I will refrain from commenting on the quality at this stage. Though I have not registered this year for the event, I am participating and half way through the minimum of 50,000 words. My motivation and discipline is the knowledge that thousands of others are rising to the challenge and though writing can be a very lonely occupation it's the thought of all those people doing the same thing that keeps things progressing.

I may have an advantage over many aspiring authors though I am not talking about skill ( that could be a mute point) but during November I am not at work. I am recovering from total hip replacement surgery so have the time and mobility to restrict myself. I keep looking at my knitting but am kept to task by a little book that is close to me at all times - Stop Talking Start Doing by Shaa Wasmund. When a person is of the age where a THR is routine then time is of the essence.

Retribution. New by Rosie Kydd

"Retribution" introduces Jason Fox a privately educated, charismatic young man who supplements his income from burglary. He is serving a short prison sentence in one of the oldest English prisons. Because of overcrowding he find himself in a basement cell block of Victorian dungeons recently recommissioned. Here Fox learns he is a Claircognizant when the cell block is terrorised by a spirit determined to reveal the identity of a rapist.

RETRIBUTION is released by Amazon ebooks on 21st December 2012

The blessing of youth

Thank heavens for sons. There are many things I am skilled at, all of them creative, but the technical side of setting up a blog seems to have been beyond my capabilities. Enter my son, not even trying to hide his frustration at the incompetence of this woman who infringes on his precious time. He has downloaded loads of things for me to read. "Read!" he tells me. "Before you start, read all the stuff I have downloaded for you." I know where he gets his impatience from. This is my first post of my first blog, so I can get out there as a newly published writer .... I am writing it now.
